Here, I write my first impressions as a Boricua, Board Certified Music Therapist (MT-BC) living in Rhode Island. My hope is that these reflections serve as a tool for conversations that challenge the academic norm. 

In my trajectory as a Music Therapist, I am looking for opportunities to write proposals, organize programs, and eventually conduct research both in English and Spanish. Eventually, I would like to conduct research studies and narrative analyses on the effectiveness of Music Therapy in community disaster response and disaster mental health. I plan to pursue this interest throughout my Doctoral studies and publications. My goal is to use this knowledge to benefit future emergency response tactics. Understanding the importance of community healing especially in challenging conditions.

Aquí escribo mis primeras impresiones como musicoterapeuta boricua certificada (MT-BC) residente en Rhode Island. Espero que estas reflexiones sirvan como herramienta para conversaciones que desafíen las normas académicas.

En mi trayectoria como musicoterapeuta, busco oportunidades para escribir propuestas, organizar programas y, eventualmente, realizar investigaciones tanto en inglés como en español. Eventualmente, me gustaría realizar estudios de investigación y análisis narrativos sobre la efectividad de la musicoterapia neurológica en la respuesta y la salud mental comunitaria pos-desastre. Planeo seguir este interés a lo largo de mis estudios de doctorado y publicaciones. Mi objetivo es utilizar este conocimiento para beneficiar futuras tácticas de respuesta a emergencias. Comprender la importancia de la curación comunitaria, especialmente en condiciones difíciles.
